Working Automated teasing/tantalizing devices: some links on the state of the art. Comments and/or opinions sought

Greetings all,

I've read -- and participated in -- a number of discussions and stories, both here on tantalism and on similar sites, about making a "smart vibrator" or a related "teasing device" that can bring a user (or subject, if you prefer) repeatably to the brink of orgasm -- and then either deny orgasm or eventually permit orgasm (but only after a long time or other conditions are satisfied.) As you might imagine, some sort of bondage is often employed to keep the subject (err victim) from, "taking matters into his/her own hands." ;-)
I've been working on my own version, as have a few other people posting around the internet (see links following). On tantalism.org itself, there have been both discussions about what can really be done today, and also stories about using such devices on both men and women. Here are some relevant tantalism.org links:

Older discussion thread, starting based on a sensor used during childbirth

Similar, but shorter discussion, with link to a real (although expensive) vaginal sensor

Random Vibrator, with sensor

Story of teasing device, used on a man

Story of a teasing device, used on a woman

I've been working on my own second-generation version of such a device, for my own enjoyment (though I'm considering improving it to work for women also.) Before embarking on that effort, I'd like to find how much interest there is in making this a reality and what aspects of it are of most interest to tantalism members. So I'd greatly appreciate it if readers here would take the time and effort to give me some insight into their degree of interest in an Automated Teasing/Tantalizing device, and what use of it would be most of interest. I've put up tantalism.org poll titled:
If you had a working automated teasing device, that kept a user (or victim) close to orgasm, who would you use it on and how?

I'd greatly appreciate it if you'd take the time to respond to the poll and/or comment on this blog entry.

Below are more links and detail, for the interested readers:

As you might expect, there are also discussions outside tantalism.org -- not just fantasy, but people (including yours truly) who are making prototypes that actually work, using a variety of techniques, some with a fair bit of how-to detail (though they assume some electronics and/or programming. The reality is not yet as perfect as in fiction, but it's IMHO pretty good, and getting even better. The main technical issues are complexity (to make it a reliable, un-fake-able, relentless tease) and cost/complexity. However, we're working on that. This sort of system can be used for either tantalization plus total denial, or tantalization with eventual orgasm, but only after a pre-set time, number of edges, or other criteria to stop the tease, and force an intense orgasm.

Unintuitive results:
Many people have thought about (or have written stories about) teasing devices based on heart-rate or EKG. However, these haven't worked well in practice, because the signals get obscured by other muscle activity, unless the subject is extremely still (and not doing isometric exercise, such as pulling against restraints.)

However, optical and force/pressure devices have been made to work, as have penile phethysmographs (devices to measure changes in the girth and/or blood engorgement of the penis. GSR (galvanic skin response) may also work (I haven't seen results either way), but that requires electrical contact to the subject, and electrical contact, no matter how carefully done, carries some risk that makes me want to steer clear of it, so long as other sensor techniques work reasonably well. There are both patents and research papers on detecting orgasm and arousal. Detecting closeness-to-orgasm (and doing so reliably) is a trickier thing than detecting orgasm itself. However people are making significant progress on reliably measuring closeness-to-orgasm.

As you might expect, there are also other kinky technologists and associated discussions outside tantalism.org -- not just fantasy, but people (uncluding yours truly) who are making prototypes that actually work, using a variety of techniques, some with a fair bit of how-to detail (though they assume some electronics and/or programming skills.) Here are some links to similar work being done outside tantalism.org:

A good general website on the intersection of sex and technology

Using randomness to make a vibe tease better

A very simple random+sensor vibrator prototype

One fellow's sporadic development/prototype of a more complex/capable device

A sensor for detecting arousal/closeness to orgasm for men, with a bunch of tech detail

Anal pressure sensor, for estimating arousal level

Again, I'd greatly appreciate it if you'd take the time to respond to the poll and/or comment on this blog entry. And if you know of related links, either stories or real-world work, please let me know.

Thanks for reading!

Automated teasing/tantalizing devices: Thanks/please take poll

@Σigma,

Thanks for your kind words. (And I can't help but to ask, how does one type a capital sigma?)

If you haven't already, would you please take the poll here on tantalism. I'm really trying to figure out who wants such a device and how they'd use it.

RIght now, I'm working on some new hardware for this project. I'm making a pair of sensors to try out, one will be unisex, the other one guys only (the latter is just a prototype.) Then I'll revise my interface electronics (the second sensor needs a different signal-conditioning circuit. When I have something in shape to photograph, I'll try to either embed the image, or at least put in a link to images.

Thanks for your time and attention!
